Conner Vs. Hiccups

Conner Bourque vs The Hiccups

January 17th, 2012

We've Moved!

This past week has brought new adventures for the boys. We have now moved to the step down unit or what is commonly referred to as the "eat and grow" unit. Both boys are staying put on the oxygen settings, and the doctor said right now the best thing is to let them grow and get stronger and hopefully their lungs will get stronger if not in a couple weeks we will reevaluate their lungs. Since both boys are still on the oxygen they can't be at the same bed side yet, but are in adjacent spots with a cute little girl sharing a bed space with Chase. Both boys have gone up in their feeds, Conner is getting 42ml every 3 hours and Chase is getting 40ml. Michael and I have been able to be more involved and hold the boys almost everyday....sometimes they look to cute to disturb :) Saturday, I bathed Chase while Michel held Conner and then we switched. Chase truly enjoyed his bath and stared at me the whole time....Conner is a completely different story. Conner screamed the WHOLE time I was bathing him and showed his true feelings by peeing on me.

Here's this week's pictures....enjoy :)

Just Like Daddy....

Michael wanted to make sure the boys were ready for the game

Conner's ready!

Chase is resting up before the game :)

We're 11 weeks old!

Our boys are getting bigger everyday.

Conner is happy to report he has officially been given the "pooping professional" title at the NICU. He managed to get himself a brand new bed again. Conner is loving his milk, getting 42ml for 30 minutes every 3 hours. Conner is doing well on the nasal canola; he is down to 4 liters of pressure and about 45-50% oxygen.

Chase has been making big strides this week. He has upped his feedings to 36ml over 3 hours. They are now starting to spread out his feeds and taking him off of continuous feeds. Chase is very happy to report he is no longer requiring TPN or lipid supplements and is now on breast milk only for nutrition. Chase is being a breathing pro and is on 2 liters of pressure and about 35% oxygen.

10 Weeks Old!

The boys are getting bigger and stronger everyday! I am happy to say both boys are completely off the ventilators. Conner is on a
C Pap mask and Chase is on a high flow nasal prong. Conner will be moving to the high flow soon. Chase is doing better on his feeds and is up to 5ml an hour...which is great for him but kind of pathetic compared to the whopping 38ml Conner is getting every 3 hours. Since Christmas we have had to opportunity to hold the boys twice now and the doctor is encouraging a every other day hold now. And on December 29th we got to dress our sweet babies for the first time, now they sport preemie clothes which surprisingly isn't that baggy on them. Enjoy the pictures :)

Our little boys have came so far from where we started. Thank you everybody for your continuous prayers and support. We still have a long road ahead but there are tons of other babies/families who are not as fortunate as us, please say a special prayer for them tonight, esp. the parents of the triplets next door to Chase and Conner.
Thank you
